Whew...couple days worth of catching up...

So to start, Weds night was date night number 2 for the week :) We went to see Mama Mia again and it was excellent again! Yesterday was Bunkey's 30th birthday, and I had a very busy day. Walk and playdate in the morning, then home for lunch and baking the cake, cleaning the kitchen, making a special birthday dinner and the day was just gone. I am happy to say that Tues we went to the museum and spent a little over an hr walking around, it wasn't all walking but I got a good little bit in, and Weds the kids and I walked to Dollar General to pick up a few things which took us about 35 mins total so that was a good little walk. Also on our date nights I got some serious stair walking in...Tues night we parked on the 4th level of the parking deck and walked down and back up, Weds night we parked on the 3rd level and walked down and back up, and our seats that night were up at the very top so we walked up 4 flights to get up then back down one and up one at intermission, then back down all 4 when we left, so definately got in some good stairs :) Yesterday(thurs) we went to a friends neighborhood to walk and play, and got about a 35 min walk in. I am said to say after doing so good the past few days I didn't walk this morning and don't think I am going to get a walk in this afternoon. It is pretty cold out already, and we are going out to dinner with my parents tonight for mine and Bunkey's birthday. While I have done pretty good with the whole moving thing I have not done soo hot with my eating the past few days...

Date night 1 of 2!

So I am posting pre-dinner because we are going out and won't be home til late. We are going to see Mama Mia at the DPAC :) And to make it even better we have tickets again tomorrow night!! Me and the kids got up and went to the museum today and had planned to walk the trail even though it was chilly, but because of a fire alarm we weren't able to go out on the trail :( We did spend an hr walking around the museum, but still not real excerise. I have been feeling kinda crappy today and hoping it is going to pass quickly w/o anyone else in my house getting it, my sinuses are messed up and my throat is bothering me some too. Food wise I have done well today, but we are going out to dinner before the show, I think Japanesse-which I am sooo excited about I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Japanesse :)

Breakfast:
Mini cinnamon rasin bagel w/ honey walnet spread

Dinner:
I think will be Japanesse, most likely Chicken and steak w/ rice and mixed veggies
*I put the last handful of Raspberry Almond M&Ms in my purse to have as a snack at the show to both save me money and keep me from eating something even worse from the snack stand at the show.
Have a great night!

Happy Monday!

So, first things first, today was weigh day...I lost another 3.5 lbs!! I have to say I was very happy to find this this morning. I really thought I hadn't lost anything this week as I was great about my eating and I didn't excerise as much as I had hoped. It was a beautiful day today, but was also extremely wet from all the rain we got yesterday/last night. So unfortunately we did not get out and walk, because rather than being a nice relaxing walk I felt like it would be a stressful walk of Christopher jumping in every puddle we passes and it was a very bad night tonight so I didn't do a workout video after the kids were in bed. Just a quick cap of the night...Christopher locked me out of the house and Hailey had a blow out diaper during dinner that I didn't realize until I picked her up, which meant I had to give her another bath even though it was already 45 min past her bedtime.
Breakfast:
mini cinnamon rasin bagel w/ honey nut spread
water
Snack:
Oatmeal cranberry cookie
Lunch:
100 cal bag popcorn
1 slice amish bread
Snack:
3 mini muffins (made from the amish bread)
palm full of raspberry almond m&ms(these are most wonderful!!)
Dinner:
Grilled turkey burger, no cheese on a white bun, w/ K & M, pickle
chips and dip
*I made the burgers and they had 1 grated apple, 1 crated carrot, and 1 finely chopped onion, so I did get a little bit of veggie in :)

another week down...

So it is the close of week two, I am not feeling to good about the weigh in tomorrow morning, but hopefully I didn't gain anything!! I did get out and walk this afternoon with the kids for about 25 min. It would have been nice to get alittle more in, but it was pretty dreary out and I didn't want to get too far from home and the bottom fall out on us! I am hoping that even if it rains all night it will pass quickly and we can get out and go to the park and walk tomorrow. I would really like to get to a point where I am doing some exercise everyday, be it inside or out. But I have found that a nice walk outside really does make me feel better mood wise and it helps wear out the kids :) Food wise I did pretty good today.

Breakfast:
water
sm cinnamon rasin bagel w/ whipped honey nut spread
*I bought these this morning, and was pleasantly suprised to find that the spread I bought only had 10 cal more than the light cream cheese, and I am sure mine taste better!
Lunch:
100 cal popcorn
water
Sanck:
2 slices amish friendship bread
Dinner:
Turkey enchiladas(1.75)
2 handfuls of tortilla chips
water

I ate really early tonight, and I actaully am not as hungry as I thought I would be by now, if I decide I need something I think I will try Connie's "Crackshake" tonight :)

Day 13

So, 3 Saturdays a month I take Christopher to either Home Depot or Lowes to build something. They both have kids workshops and he just loves them! Today was a Lowes day, and then we hit the mall. I would have really loved to be able to search through all the clearance racks at Penny's but my kids just weren't having it so it was a quick trip in and out and then back home. Even though it was still pretty wet out we got out and took a 40 min walk this afternoon. I didn't cook tonight, I have some many left overs in the fridge and Bunkey is working til 11pm so he took lunch and dinner(left overs for both) so I didn't cook for just myself tonight. I will back to cooking tomorrow!

Breasfast:
apple pie
water
Lunch:
Sm Chick-fil-a soup
2 packs saltines
water
Dinner:
left overs-turkey, green bean casserole, rolls
sweet tea

Thanksgiving in January :)

So, as I have said several times I am trying to clean out my big freezer and cook something different every night. Tonight was a mini Thanksgiving in January. I put my frozen bird in the oven first thing this morning and let it cook all day. It was a dreary day again today, so we didn't get out and walk, and it has been a rough night so I am not feeling the need to workout tonight, in fact I think I might make a margerita instead!
Breakfast:
water
about 1/3 c low fat vanilla yogurt
Lunch:
salad w/ 1/2 bbq chicken breast, cheese, almonds, carrots, and cabbage, light catilina dressing
Dinner:
turkey
mashed potatos w/ gravy
green beans casserole
yeast rolls
apple pie

Catch up...

So, the last two days have been totally upside down. I enrolled Christopher in a Speech and Language study at the FPG Child Development Center in Chapel Hill, and when I did this they said it would be about 5 hrs total and it would be spilt up over two days, I was like ok sounds good. Well, it ended up being 10 HOURS over two days!!! Which totally screwed up both days for us. Needless to say my eating and walking took a hard hit! We don't have any concerns about Christopher speech or language skills, for us it was just a way to see where he is on the charts, which they will be mailing me the report but I feel like he is pretty high after seeing what they were asking him to do and the level he was completing the task at. I was soo tired by the time we got home I didn't move once I sat on the couch, so no exercise outside of walking around Costco, which they were sampling these wonderful cakes that they are only selling for this week and I tried all 4 of them! They were soo excellent and I got my mom to buy the Mudslide one for the birthday cake :) Tonight I did get up off my butt after putting the kids to bed, and I did the 15-min easy mile and the 15-min fast blasting interval mile on Denise Alston's video.
Anyway, on to the food for the last two days...

I have a great walking buddy :)

So today today was another beautiful day, so me and the kids got out and took a nice long walk. We walked to my dad's, then to Dollar general, then back to Dad's (he wasn't home either time), then back home. We walked for a total of 65 min, not including the time spent in the store. I am glad Christopher is such a great little walking buddy, he did the whole walk w/o complaining at all, he even wanted to walk back to the store instead of going home! Crazy kid :) Food wise I did pretty good today also. I made something different again tonight, which I am the only one who ate it so far though. Christopher rarely eats what I make for dinner, Hailey usually eats but for whatever reason threw it in the floor tonight and Robert still isn't home :( Anywho, on to the menu for the day...
Breakfast:
3 bites on oatmeal
100 cal yogurt
water
Lunch:
tacos and nachos (yes, again, but all the left overs are gone so back to healthy tomorrow)
water
Dinner:
Baked turkey breast tenderloin
glazed carrots
sauteed peas w/ onions
stuffing
water
snack:
orange

First weigh in!!!

So, today was my first weigh in...I was not looking forward to it, because I felt like I hadn't lost anything and after eating all the tacos and nachos last night I thought for sure I had gained a pound in water! BUT, I am very happy to say, not only did I not gain but I LOST 4.5 lbs this week!!! Yay me! I decided to take a page out of a friends book and on weigh day I can eat whatever I want :) I didn't get as much walking time in as I would have liked today but I did get about a 20 min walk in this morning w/ the kids. Robert asked to go to Outback tonight, I who would say no to that?? Not me, that is for sure!
Breakfast:
Cinnamon apple oatmeal
water
Lunch:
left over tacos and nachos
water
Dinner:
Cheese fries
whole rack of ribs, no side, because I didn't think to ask for something other than fries and didn't want more fries after we had cheese fries for an appitizer.
water

Slow Sunday

So, today I was not good at all. Which is really bad, because tomorrow I have to weight my self, if only I had held out one more day, oh well! I got lots of housework done, but so far no actual excerise time in. I plan to walk for atleast 30min tonight while watching tv after the kids are in bed. We haven't eaten dinner yet, but I know what we are having and that I will eat way more than I should, but I am going to enjoy cause soft tacos are one of my faves! Technically we are having something different, since we are actaully have tacos tonight, but still every close to the taco soup we had the other night.
Breakfast:
water
no food(this is where I already lost for the day)
Lunch:
salad w/ light catalina
water
orange
snack:
(eaten at different times thoughout the afternoon)
handful of peanut m&m's

soft tacos
nachos
yellow rice

Tomorrow I will do better!!

Day 6

So both of my wonderful children were up in the night for whatever reason, I have no idea, but either way it meant not much sleep for mommy. So we had a very rough morning, with lots of wining and crying(from the kids, though I was close at one point). But the afternoon went much better. We got out and took a 50 minute walk today which was great. We walked up to the Dollar General and got candy(shame, shame) and ate it outside in the fresh air and then walked home. I am not sure what the distance is, probably not but about a quarter mile but it was still 50 min, not including the time at the store itself of walking, which is kinda alot for Christopher to do but he loves to do this walk. The morning was so rough I didn't even eat breakfast...I did cook something new tonight :)

Breakfast:
no food
Hot chocolate
Snack:
1 tblsp peanut butter
water
Lunch:
Coffee mug of taco soup w/ tsp sour cream and some shredded cheese
handful of chips
water
Snack:
Sneakers w/ Almonds
couple sips of Coke(shared by me, Kat, and Christopher)
Dinner:
Steak(about 3 oz)
5 Shrimp
Baked sweet potatoe w/ butter and brown sugar
Salad w/ Italian dressing
Snack:
* I haven't actaully eaten yet, but after Christopher goes to bed in a few, I think I will bake peanut butter cookies for Robert and I. I will NOT eat 6 this time though :)

Much better day 5

So, first let me start by adding exercise time for last night. After I posted I was really wanting to snack, so instead I walked/jogged in place for 30 min while watching tv and drank 2 cups of water and I am happy to say...NO Snacking-yay me :)

Any who, back to today. First off, thankfully both me and the kids seemed to be out of the funk we had yesterday. It was such a beautiful day so I took the kids to some friends neighborhood and parked at their house and we walked to the park. So I got in a good 30 min walk this morning plus we spent 2.5 hrs on top of the walking time at the park. I again tonight after the kids went to bed spent 30 min walking/jogging in place while watching a show. So lots of moving today. I am hoping to take a long walk tomorrow morning with the kids if the weather is nice, hopefully it will hold out.
I did pretty good food wise today also. I made something different tonight, Taco Soup, it was soo yummy! Thanks Connie :) We ate pretty early tonight and the kids went to bed a little early to, and I was wanting a snack, so I went back and had another cup of the soup it was so good.
I am finding myself really wanting to step on the scale, but am waiting til Mon to weigh, since that will be a week. I know that they recommend only weighing once a week, but I really want to know if I have lost anything! At the same time, if I haven't, which I don't think I have yet, I don't want to discourage myself and take comfort in some wonderful chocolaty goodness :)
Breakfast:
1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt w/ 1 tblsp cinnamon applesauce mixed in
water
Lunch:
100 cal popcorn
water
Snack:
1 orange w/ 1 tblsp chocolate syrup(only 50 cal) and I got my chocolate fix :)
Dinner:
Taco soup(made w/ ground turkey)
torilla chips
cheese
sour cream
water
Snack:
Coffee mug worth of taco soup w/ cheese and sour cream

Day 4

So today was a rough day. Both the kids had mildily upset stomaches and I didn't feel to hot most of the day either, no one is actaully sick, just not ourselves. I did get a 15 minute mile in this morning during Hailey's morning nap. I did the fat burn mile on Denise Alston's blast away the fat 3 15-min miles. It was the first time I have done that one, I usually stick with the easy mile. It was much worse, just a faster pace and so running in place rather than just the walking and marching in between intrivals. Christopher even did most of it with me :)
Breakfast:
Cinnamon Apple oatmeal
water
Snack:
Orange
water
Lunch:
about 1/4 serving of cream of wheat, made w/ 2% milk and 2 tsp sugar and butter each. By lunch I was feeling the worst and just didn't have much appitate.
Snack:
Crunch bar
Dinner:
Spaghetti w/ meat sauce(ground turkey)
Garlic toast
water

Tonight, night 4, I already failed to make something different for dinner everynight this month...we had spaghetti monday night!! But it just tasted so good then, and there was still half a huge jar of sauce in the fridge I didn't want to go bad. Plus it is Christopehr's fave so I knew he would actaully eat :)

Weak Wednesday...

So, first I have to confess that after I posted last night I gave into the cookie dough that had been calling me from my fridge all day. And I ate 6 Chocolate Chip cookies!! O, well, that was the end of the dough(well from the fridge anyway, there is more in the freezer). Today I started out good, with my oatmeal and water, then my dad called and offered to take me and the kids out to lunch and come on, who passes up a free meal?? Not me! I am not sure how dinner adds up, but for now I am not worrying too much about dinner and consentrating on breakfast and lunch, I will do better tomorrow!
Breakfast:
Cinnamon apple oatmeal
2 cups of water

Lunch:
Pizza Hut Personal pan pizza(pepperoni)
1 trip to the salad bar
1.5 Cups water

Dinner:
Thai Chicken soup
3 yeast rolls
water

The soup is again another new meal for us, and the jury is still out on it. It was good, and pretty easy to make, but Thai isn't something that either me or Robert eats and it was a little sweeter than I expected.

I almost forgot! I did get just over 30 mins combined walking time in today. 10 min walking between a friends house and their neighborhood park and back, and then another 22 min walking up and down our street with the kids this afternoon before dinner. Not enough to take care of the Pizza Hut, but better than nothing :)

Today's Menu

So I am going to try to keep track of what I eat all day and then add it on here so, I guess kinda Use it as a food journal. I think I did pretty good today...
Breakfast:
1 pack instant cinammon apple oatmeal
Pepermint tea w/ 1 tsp honey

Lunch:
1 bag 100 cal popcorn(that I didn't finish cause the stuff in the bottom got a little burnt)
1 med banana
3 bites of ham(as I was making Christopher's lunch)
water to drink

Dinner:
Chicken and Steak Fajitas (I used 2 petite sirlions and the meat from 1 chicken leg quater to make enough for both me and Robert plus 1 bag-5 servings of fajita veggies which included onion, red, yellow, and green peppers). I had 2 flour tortillas to wrap it up
1 med handful of tortilla chips
1 tbsp salsa
water to drink
*This is the first time I have ever made fajitas and I have to say I was happy with the resualts. I sliced the meat and marinated it in lemon juice, lime juice, EVOO, cilantro, and spicy steak seasoning for about 5 hrs.

All in all today I think I drank 7 glasses of water, I need to start tracking that as well I guess.
Any who, I did alot of laundry and work in the kitchen today, and didn't excerise. I am hoping that it will be nice enough tomorrow afternoon to get outside with the kids and walk for a little while.

Getting started...

So first of all, for now I am not actually telling anyone about this blog. For now it is just for me and if anyone stumbles across it so be it. I am doing this to keep myself accountable for really trying to stick to some goals for this year.

1. Cook new things every month. No more of the same menu month after month, some things will always be there but I want to try several new to us recipes every month.

2. Eating healthier, both for me and my family

3. Move more!!

4. Do more for others

A few friends and I signed up for a weight loss challenge yesterday that our county is sponsering. The goal of the challenge is for everyone on the team(4 people) to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks, and if the team is successful you have a chance to win $$ and other prizes. I wish I could say I only need to lose 10 lbs, but it is in fact a lot more! I am really hoping to lose about 30 lbs in the next 10 weeks, but that is going to take some serious work.
