In my head I want to enjoy sewing...

However, the reality is that it always seems to take WAY longer than I think it will going into it. Of course it doesn't help that I don't have my own machine and I am not completely sure of what I am doing so I have to go to my mom's and use her machine and get her help/supervise me. This wouldn't be such a bad thing except that also means taking my kids along and they DO NOT like to share Grandma's attention! Any who, here is today's project. I did better this time then last, even though I completely messed up the panties and had to cut them apart and restart. This dress is for a friends daughter who's first birthday party is next week. And the best part, the bolt said the material was $4.99/yd and Hailey really liked the material so I said I would get enough to make her something too, so 2 yds expecting to pay almost $11...but it rang up $1/yd!! So I got enough material to make 2 dresses for $2.14, can't beat that!! :)

Past weeks good mail

I am love, love, loving all the good snail mail lately! Last week I posted several samples and coupons I got and now I have more :) I have started getting some responses back to from the Apple a Day Project I had mentioned previously, and it is starting to help keep me motivated and looking forward to checking the mail. This is what we have received over the last several days:

Responses from Apple a Day Project:

2 Lance coupons for 1 free box of snack crackers
1 free Bryer's Yo-crunch fruit parfait, and 2 $1 off 2
2 $1 of 1 Dole fruit cups

Other great coupons and samples:

$9.50 savings booklet from P&G
$35.75 saving booklet
$28 worth of fisher price coupons, nothing I am really looking to buy but would make great gifts to buy if I run across them on sale somewhere!
2 3ct Dentek flossers

I am hoping as the week continue to get several more samples, I have lost track of how many items I have signed up for recently all of a sudden there were all kinds of things to sign up for and I DID! But I didn't keep a list of what and how long it was supposed to take to be delivered so I guess it will just continue to be nice little surprises.
Happy Tuesday!

Super Double Round up for the week

I ended up hitting HT up 4 times while out and about this past week, I kept missing the rolls that I wanted, I only actually found them once and I shoulda used all the coupons I had for them that time, oh well, the rest are good til the end of May so hopefully it will happen again. The 4th trip I didn't get anything I was near a HT this morning and just ran in to see if they had the rolls and they didn't. Here's my trips, I am pretty happy with the outcome!

Trip#1
3 strawberries (Buy 1 get 2 free! $4.99 each)
1 men's Degree
2 oral-b tooth brushes
1 Bailey's coffee creamer
1 4pk DanActive drinks
Total: $5.75!

Trip #2
5 12ct bags Rhodes dinner rolls
2 Philly cooking cremes

Total: $.16!
*Also on this trip we were on the way to the $1.50 theater to see MegaMind(much better than I expected it to be) and Robert and Christopher were hungry. When I walked in they were selling hot dogs, chips, and a drink to raise $ for MS, so I got them each a combo, can't beat that price and they were happy to eat while I ran in the store :)

Trip #3
2 Philly cooking cremes

Total: $.06!

Another cooking creme

We tried out the second Philly Cooking creme I got a couple weeks ago tonight and it was excellent too! I think I actually liked this one better. Robert wasn't home to try it, and I let my mom take the leftovers home to my bro, so he will have to try it another time. Tonight was the Italian cheese and herb, and I made Chicken pasta primavera. Also, just to toot my own horn, I would just like to mention that this is the third meal I have made in the last 2 weeks that was made from 1 chicken that I got on sale for 69cents a lb. So my chicken that cost just under $3 made chicken and gnocchi soup, chicken and dumplings, and the pasta tonight...if that's not stretching a buck I don't know what is! And there really was plenty of chicken in each meal! I have found that if I roast a chicken and then pull every little bit of chicken off the bones and separate it into even piles it really is a great deal, especially for us, because none of us really likes the dark meat by itself so this is great for making pastas, soups, casseroles, enchiladas. Anywho, I am proud of myself :)

Apple a day project

I am way behind on my postings again, but I wanted to share this idea. I saw it on another blog and it seems like a great idea. She writes to one company every day, something good or bad depending on her family's experience with each product. In return she gets lots on nice emails back and about half the time high value coupons and or free stuff! Seems like a great plan to me. So, I have decided to start doing this also, however, due to my severe lack of organization I can't seem to remember to do it everyday. I have done several though. So far I have written: Goody's Hair products, Oscar Mayer, Nestle, Vaseline lotion, Ivory, Lance, and Hefty. I have gotten a couple emails thanking me for my feedback of the products so far. I am hoping that this coming week maybe I will get some coupons or even free products in the mail. That would definitely help me keep it up!

Also, I discovered that if you "like" Valspar Paint on FB you can sign up to get a free paint sample w/ a roller brush and pan! All packaged up and sent right to your door, how cool is that! I have been wanting to paint Hailey's room, and even though it is not a super expensive thing to do we just don't seem to have the money at the end of the month to buy the paint and supplies so....I sent samples of the same color(plink) to myself, my Dad, my Mom, my Sis, my Step MIL, and her bro's house!! I am hoping maybe possibly it will be enough to paint her room and if not, at least I won't have to buy pans and rollers and such and the samples each come with coupons to buy more paint at Lowe's :) So if you are thinking about changing up a room color you might want to check it out and get your sample and coupon before you shop! The store "re-opens" everyday at 10am eastern time, and they only do 1000 samples a day. They are giving away a total of 100,000, I am not sure how long this has been going on so if interested jump on it and try to log in right at opening, the samples seem to be gone with in 2 hrs every morning.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! We have beautiful weather here :)

Great finds at Target!

First, let me start with saying I am soo glad I got one of these P&G Coupon books!

It says $110 in savings, and I may save close to that with it! So far my total is $37 and I have only had it for just over a week and there are lots more coupons to use! :) I will definately be keeping my eye out for offers for this book again!

Now, on to Target. After getting so much for free or almost free at HT last week I got to thinking what else could I maybe get super cheap or free with this book?? The greatst thing about this book, other than I didn't have to spend any $$ to get it and it is chalk full of savings, is there is no restrictions on almost all the coupons!! NO size or amount requirements! Which means....they are good on the smallest items, including TRAVEL size which most are under $1! And almost all the coupons are $1 off the product, which means free products! :) So I hit up Target's Travel section the other day and it was success, plus they had large bottles of Pantene marked down to $1.98 each, which were one of the items I had coupons for so they ended up only being .98 each :)

I ended up with:
2 large Pantene(1 shampoo, 1 conditioner)
1 2-pk travel size panetene
3 single use Tide(great for travel!)
3 travel size Head and Shoulders
1 travel size Herbal Ess.
2 travel size Secret deoderant

All for $2.72! That is less than one of the lg Pantene usually are! I was pretty happy with myself for thinking to look in the travel section. I am going to try to hit Wal-mart tomorrow to see if they have some of the things in their travel section that Target didn't have, different brands of lotion and body washes...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! It is beautiful and sunny here :)

Feeling the love for HT :)

SO this past week HT had Super Doubles, when they double coupons up to $1.98, I don't always shop this sale but I am glad I did this time around. Before I get to my purchases let me just mention a couple weeks ago I signed up on P&G's FB page to receive a coupon book and conveniently it came in the middle of this promotion and most of the coupons where $1 off of any size of different products, which all doubled to $2 off! Anyways, on to the goodies.

Trip 1:

This trip included:
2 boxes Hefty one zip bags-$1 total
1 small Dawn dish liquid-free
1 lg Gain dish liquid-free
3 wishbone dressings-free
1 bag dried pineapples-free
1 old spice deodorant-free
1 secret deodorant-.49
1 always maxi pads-$.99
1 oral-b toothbrush-free
2 Herbal esse-$1 total
2 bags rhodes dinner rolls-.50 total
1 Pillsbury french bread-.69
2 philly cooking creams-free

My total ended up being $5.82 and my savings were $50.87!!

Trip 2:

This trip I was alittle disappointed I actually went to 2 HT in search of the rhodes rolls and toothbrushes and both were sold out, but I did pick up a few things at the first store I stopped at. This trip included:
2 Dawn dish liquid-free
2 Gain dish liquid-free
2 old spice deodorant-free
2 snickers peanut butter bars-.89 total (these were pretty good, I'll buy them again but I still prefer the almond ones better)

Total= $1.42 and savings was $14.23 :)

Overall it was a pretty successful sale, and I know have close to a year's worth of dish soap for free, since I still had 2 full bottles from the last time I got it free :)

Online shopping

I must admet I have never been a huge online shopper, I like to actually see and touch things before I buy them. But this year I have discovered the joy of online shopping! I came across a promotion on Amazon.com, "amazonmom" which gave me 3 months of free amazon prime, which is 2 day shipping on all things sold by amazon.com, it has been great and I got an email the other day that they have extended it by 2 more months :) I also have discovered Vistaprint.com, which is constantly running great sales on all kinds of printed goods, note card, business cards, calendars, magnets all kinds of stuff. Anyways, I have already gotten 2 calendars for free, just pay shipping (less than $5 at the time) and tonight I ordered 2 more calendars and 250 business card(my first!) for less $22, this time I had to pay an upload fee for the calendars but other than that they were free plus shipping.
I am happy to say that I am mostly done with my Christmas shopping! I still need a few stocking stuffers for hubby and a gift for my Dad, which is soo hard to shop for and then I think I am done. I am considering giving my Dad a heffer or some other animal :) I probably am not really going to do it, he isn't the kind of person I think would really appriciate that, but it would be funny!

Super Doubles just aren't as good as triples...

I say it every time, but Super Double coupons just aren't as good as Triple coupons! I really really wish Harris Teeter would start doing Triple coupons on a regular basis again! But since I can't resist a deal I hit up HT tonight with two whinny cranky kids and I guess it was a fairly successful trip....here's the goods:

The breakdown:
1 12 pk Charmin= $4.99
3 Martha White muffin mixes= -$.46!!!
2 Quaker multi pack oatmeal= $.50 each
2 Fabreeze room spray= $.49 each
2 fabreze plug in= $.49 each
2 Dawn detergent= $.99 each
2 frozen Green Giant veggies= free
1 Dayquil= $2.09
1 NyQuil= $2.09
1 raspberry= $1.99
$16.10 + 1.81(tax)=17.91
total saving for the trip was $41.93 :)

I have had better trips but this was still a pretty good one. I really wish I had some Barilla pasta coupons, which I thought I did but most have used them already. They have Barilla on sale buy 2 get 3 free, so if I had coupons to use on the 2 I had to buy it would be an outrageous deal cause we eat a ton of pasta in this house. Oh well, maybe I will get lucky and there will be some in this Sunday's paper(fingers crossed)!

I also discovered a new place(for us) in Durham tonight-Loco Pops. My brother and sister have both told me about it recently and they were having a tasting tonight so I took the kids. Christopher of course was very excited to go taste some popsicles but of course didn't participate once we were there. Hailey on the other hand was in heaven and kept telling me "I bite!" and "I big bite!" cause I wasn't feeding her fast enough :) Turns out tonight we were sampling ice cream and sorbet, not popsicles but the lady was very kind and gave Christopher a pop anyway-which he of course decided he didn't like and only ate a few bite of. We tried the Mexican Chocolate ice cream, which Hailey really liked; the Hot Chocolate with marshmallow ice cream, which I really liked; and the last one was a liquor that I don't remember which one now with raisins and ginger snap which was also very tasty :) The sorbets tonight were the Mojito which was very good and tart and the pumpkin with candied orange which was good but I liked the Mojito better. This is definitely somewhere we will be frequenting regularly I believe.

Wow! I have blogged like 3 times in less than a week, I am on a roll! Lets see if I can keep it up :) See ya soon!

Just another Tues

About a month or so ago I came across a promotion called amazonmom by Amazon.com. The promotion was you sign up for this free club for caregivers and you get Amazon Prime-FREE 2 day shipping for 3 months free!! Well, needless to say the free shipping has been burning a hole in my pocket so I finally used it and am very excited about what I got today!

I can't wait to try some of the recipes in this book, it may even be "the" book I have been looking for to make every recipe out of the book :)

However I did NOT eat like I care about calories today! Christopher had his last ice skating class today in Wake Forrest. So we stopped at Chick-fil-a for lunch and then there is a lovely new Krispy Kreme right across the street so of course we NEEDED doughnuts-yeah right! But I of course still went and bought a dozen doughnuts and I must say there current feature doughnut the Pumpkin Spice is most excellent! I have eatin 2.

HT success

So, today being Weds Harris Teeter specials changed and I was very happy as I was looking thru the new flier. I got several really good deals! Pampers were on sale for $8.99 and I had a -$1.50 coupon plus a coupon for a free box of wipes w/ the purchase of any diapers. Yoplait was on sale 10/$5 and I had 2 -$.40 coupons on 6(which were double to -$.80 each) Tampax are on sale for $2.99 a box and I had 2 -$2 coupons, that is $.99 a box! Nutrigrain bars are on sale for $1.77 and I had a $.75 off(which was doubled to -$1.50) so only $.27 for the box!! Below is a picture of everything I got, I am pretty pleased with my 60% savings!
This is what I got for $21.99!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Oh, how I love coupons...

So today being Weds the new sales went into effect for most grocery stores, Lowes foods being one of them. And I was very happy to see that both Hormel Entries and Country Crock side dishes were on sale BOGO this week. Why, was I excited? Because I have been hanging on to 3 coupons for each for a couple weeks now waiting to see if they would go on sale. I had 3 $1 of the sides and 3 .75 off the meats, which the .75cent ones were doubled to $1.50 off! So I paid $2 for each of the meats and $1-$1.50 for each of the sides :) Add a salad or a can of veggies and I just got 3 dinners SUPER cheap! They also have Breyers ice cream BOGO, but since I didn't have a coupon for them I only got one at half price. I also got a bag of diapers that is reg $10.99 for $5.99, since they were on sale and I had a coupon. All in all it was a good trip to the store and I only bought the few things on my list, which is a miracle in and of its self...Below is a pic of my goods. By the way my total was $14.37 and I saved $37.50! That is a savings of 62%!!
