6 more things knocked out!

Over the last 5 weeks I have been working on several "things" from my Day Zero list, and I am happy to say I just checked 6 more things off as DONE!

-Cook 30 different dinners in 30 nights-The 30 meals in 30 nights wasn't as bad as I thought, but it would have been easier if I had actually assigned a meal to each night. I just made a list of 30 dinners, bought almost everything I needed and then just picked something each day. Towards the end it was kinda uggg, cause of course I cooked all the faves at the beginning and then didn't really want what was left on the list. But I did it.

-Give up fast food for a month-The fast food I realized almost 2 weeks into the month of April I hadn't had any, so I decided this should be the month for that too, which was probably good, cause then I wasn't tempted to cheat and get McD's or something any nights.

-participate in a Charity walk/runThe walk is something I have wanted to do for a while and just never actually done. I had the oppertunity to walk in the March for Dimes w/ a friend from high school. Her daughter was a premmie and had to stay in the hosptial longer than normal so we walked in honor of her, which just made it that much better. Plus I hadn't actually seen Hannah since we graduted from high school 9 years ago!-
Me w/ Hannah and Kathryn at the walk, hadn't seen either of them since high school

Sweet little Emmrie

-plant a garden- My Dad helped me plant my garden at the beginning of April, it proved slightly more complicated than we expected, apparently we have a natural spring or something in our yard where I decided to plant so it was a huge mud pit after we tilled the area, but it is looking good now and hopefully watering won't be an issue :)

-save $100 in one shopping trip-The $100 in one trip I already posted, so exciting!

-color Easter eggs-And how sad it is the this is the first time I have died Easter eggs with Christopher-super slack Mommy here! But the kids both had a great time doing it this year and now they keep asking to do it again...

Some of these were bigger than others, but I feel very proud of myself for completing them all and all in the same month! Just wish I had managed to loss the 20 lbs I want to lose too, between walking the 5K and no fast food, oh well, just have to work harder on that! Happy Hump Day!

Super Doubles again!

I still prefer triple coupons, but super doubles have been pretty good the last couple times. This time I even managed to knock a "thing" off my 101 things this trip and saved $100+ in one trip!!

Coupons tendered = $101.95
VIC savings = $23.47
Total savings = 125.42!
Total = $47.55

Needless to say I was VERY happy with myself on the way home that day :)

2 more RR recipes

Ancho chicken tortilla soup
This one came out spicier than I expected it to, but we both really liked it!

The second one was Super Scampi, this one was just ok. We both prefer my usual method of making scampi, but we tired it. It wasn't bad, but the sauce came out much thinner than mine usually does and didn't really stick as well.

Working through my list

This month I have taken on 2 of the longer items on my 101 things list(http://www.dayzeroproject.com/user/hway). #1 no fast food for a month, so far so good. We are on day 13, almost 14 and no fast food, I am pretty sure I can stick with it for another 16 days! #2 is to cook 30 different meals in 30 nights. I didn't actually start this on the first of the month so it will run into the begining of May, but I am on day 10 of this. This month I am again making several new recipes out of Rachael Ray's look and cook cookbook, which is the book I have decided to make every recipe out of(also on my list). I think I have 7 recipes from the book on the menu for this 30 period so hopefully most will be successful :)

March for Babies!

I just registered to join a friends team for the March of Dimes, March for Babies walk! I am sure excited, it is a great cause and I am so very thankful that both our kids were extremely healthy from the get go, but there are so many who aren't and anything I can do to help in a great honor! If you would like to donate please go to: http://www.marchforbabies.org/hway

The team that I joined is a friend from schools team. Her daughter was born almost 2 months early last August and was in the hospital for several weeks before coming home. She is now very happy and health and trieving, but it is a scary thing and I am so glad for this opportunity! Thanks for the support!

I did it, I did it, yeah, I did it!

That's a Dora the Explorer, just in case you aren't familiar with Dora :) It is Hailey's new fave thing to say and she even does the little dance to go with it. Hahaha.
Anyways, on to what I did...

I made my first dress, from start to finish. My mom is a very good sewer and several times I have asked her to teach me, but we never seem to get all the way threw a project, mostly because she wouldn't let me actually make something. She always just wanted me to practice with scraps, and I wanted to have an actual finished product at the end so I would get frustrated and she would get frustrated and we got nothing done, but not this time! :)

Happy Monday everyone! I think I am caught up on everything now :)
